Do I need any experience?
All you need is an open mind. You don’t need experience. You don’t need to have been to university. All you need is curiosity and be ready to learn new things. Maybe you want a new direction? What will I learn?
With Click Start by Bath Spa University in Creative Digital Skills, you’ll develop skills in digital marketing, UI/UX design and web development. You’ll also work in groups on live briefs. This will strengthen your problem-solving skills, creativity, adaptability and resilience, which are all valuable skills in the workplace. You will also build a portfolio of work to show employers.
You’ll be provided with six months of employability support from Catch22, including being signposted to opportunities for employment, self-employment, volunteering and further education.

Dates and Times
The next courses start on:
16 January for 8 weeks, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am-1.30pm. In person teaching will take place at Sion Hill campus, Bath.
13 February for 8 weeks, Tuesday – Thursday from 10am – 1:30pm. In person teaching will take place at Bristol Folk House, Bristol.
You will be taught through a combination of face-to-face and online teaching and must attend every session. 30% of your teaching will be in person. This will take place over the eight weeks.

How much is it?
If you meet the eligibility criteria, then it’s completely free. And no, there’s no catch. This programme has been developed in partnership with the Institute of Coding (IoC) and has been funded by Nominet to help reduce the UK’s digital skills gap.
Do I get a qualification?
At the end of the course you’ll receive a certificate of completion.
You’ll also be given a one year membership to the British Computer Society, free of charge. The membership includes access to an industry mentor who will advise you on progressing into a career in tech and the creative industries.
Am I eligible?
Click Start is designed to support under-represented groups. The aim is to give you the digital skills you need to open-up new opportunities and get better pay. Or simply do what you want to do in life.
For a FREE place, check if ALL of the following criteria apply to you:
- You are aged 18-30.
- You live near the West of England including Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.
- You have the right to work in the UK.
You must be willing to travel for in person teaching.

What is Click Start?
This course is part of Click Start, the new nationwide training programme developed by the Institute of Coding (IoC), a national consortium of industry, educators and outreach providers.
Click Start is funded by Nominet, the public benefit company that operates and protects UK Internet infrastructure and uses its funds to support projects that promote digital inclusion.
The new programme will be rolled out through 2023 and helps to tackle the UK’s digital skills gap. This will be done by offering skills and training to more than 26,500 learners across the country, who may not have previously had opportunities.
