This newsletter provides information about the new IoC-led Skills Bootcamps. Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up tech skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer. 

Skills Bootcamps will be provided at no cost for learners who meet the eligibility criteria and are accepted by a Skills Bootcamp provider. Employers who wish to upskill existing employees through the Skills Bootcamps will receive a 70% discount from standard programme fees.

IoC partners have 40+ Skills Bootcamp intakes available, with many starting this September and October. Topics include core digital skills, web and software development, creative computing, data skills, cyber security, AI and many others.

September Skills Bootcamp spotlight

Learn DevOps skills starting in September 
DevNetSkills by The Open University is a 16-week, part-time DevOps training programme which combines the Open University’s fifty years’ experience of promoting education for all and supporting busy working adults to learn, with real-world careers insights from Cisco, one of the world’s largest IT companies.

The programme flexes around the demands of your work and life, combining high quality online learning with live webinars, online support, coaching and certification preparation sessions to support you into a digital job.

Further your career in construction and architecture
Northumbria University is running 16-week Skills Bootcamps starting in September, October and November in Construction Data Science and Software (Engineering/Architectural Technician Plus). Both of these Skills Bootcamps have learning outcomes that will help you start or further your career in the fast-paced construction industry.

Get the skills for a career in web development 
Bath Spa University is offering a 12-week Skills Bootcamp with start dates in September, October, November and January that will provide the necessary skills to gain employment in a web development role. This course starts with an introduction to websites and will teach you sought-after web application skills including the building and deployment of smartphone and web apps.

The Institute of Coding (IoC) is a collaborative national consortium of industry, educators, and outreach providers that are working together to respond to the UK’s digital skills gap through the delivery of employer-led digital skills education. The IoC consortium, which is led by the University of Bath, is a provider for the Department for Education’s (DfE) Skills Bootcamps.
