Skills Bootcamp in Data Analytics and Visualisation: from Advanced Excel to Power BI - Sept (Closed)

Data Analytics enables us to investigate large amounts of data to make business forecasts and take informed decisions. Data visualisation accelerates understanding and increases situational awareness, enabling you to identify trends and patterns, and communicate these persuasively and effectively. Today, several data-analytics and visualisation tools are available on the market and knowing how to correctly use them is necessary to improve business performance. This Skills Bootcamp will allow the learner to develop skills in data analytics, reporting and visualisation looking at a range of different solutions from Advanced Excel to Power BI. Machine Learning and AI applications to generate data insights and business forecast will be also included.

Skills Bootcamps in Digital - 29 November 2021 (Closed)

We’re partnering with Manchester Digital, The Specialists Hub, and The Heroworx Institute to form a local group to deliver Skills Bootcamps with a focus on digital skills. Three of our departments at the university are involved, too: Computing and Mathematics; Business School; SODA: School of Digital Arts. Our Skills Bootcamp provides a broad grounding in the key skills underpinning becoming a digital native in commercial environments. These 14-week programme starts with foundations in Employment and Business readiness, and Computing Fundamentals and progresses through subjects including Digital Sales, Cyber Security, and Entrepreneurship.

Skills Bootcamp in Cyber Analysis - November 2021 (Closed)

By the end of the Skills Bootcamp learners should be able to implement, maintain and support the security controls that protect an organisation’s systems and data assets from threats and hazards. They ensure that security technologies and practices are operating in accordance with the organisation’s policies and standards to provide continued protection. They should have a broad understanding of network infrastructure, software and data to identify where threat and hazard can occur. They can manage performing periodic vulnerability assessments to evaluate the organisation’s ongoing security posture and will provide visibility to management of the main risks and control status on an ongoing basis. They respond to security incidents and implement resolution activities across the organisation.
