Sample the TechUPWomen experience with a new free taster course
The award-winning TechUPWomen programme, which was funded by the Institue of Coding, has upskilled 100 women with the digital skills needed for a new career in tech and created a lasting community. Read more about the programme and hear from one of the participants in our TechUPWomen case study.
Upcoming free taster
Currently, women make up only 17 per cent of the technology sector workforce, significantly lower than most other UK sectors. Funded by the Office for Students, through the Institute of Coding, the TechUP initiative and the TechUPWomen Taster Course aims to address this shortage by training those who want to start a career in the tech sector, particularly those from underserved communities.
The Taster Course is open to anyone who is starting their journey into tech and would like to sample the TechUP experience, whilst getting an introduction into Machine Learning.
What does the course include?
Course participants will learn about the basics of Machine Learning in two introductory chapters produced by Edge Hill University and will experience a confidence building session ‘Unleash Your Inner Super(s)hero, ran by Adah Parris, Futurist, Cultural Strategist, Systems Designer and Artist.
Course participants will also get a chance to hear about the journey and experiences of the 2019/20 TechUPWomen cohort. All of the training is completed online, allowing participants to fit learning around current commitments.
