Is there a digital subject you’ve always wanted to learn more about, but have never found the time to study? Online learning could be the solution. In this blog, we look at our online courses that provide a flexible way of learning more about digital, gaining new skills and preparing for your career.

Ensuring your skills are up-to-date in the increasingly digital world can be seen as time consuming or difficult. At the Institute of Coding (IoC), we want to make digital skills education more available at all stages of your life. To do this, we have produced a variety of courses, including some that are short, online and free, so that you don’t have to dedicate a significant amount of time or money to gain new skills. Developed with input from industry, our courses enable you to access learning when it suits you, gain the skills employers are looking for, and learn useful information for your life and career.

Find out more about digital

If your interest in digital has just started, our courses developed by FutureLearn and the University of Leeds will introduce you to digital concepts and skills that can benefit and enhance your career, like coding and social media marketing. All of our FutureLearn and Leeds courses are available now, and are designed to be completed in two weeks.

For example, with the new Thriving in the Digital Workplace programme, you’ll learn how you can harness technology at work and enhance your digital skills.

The Creating Digital Content programme is a great option if your passion lies in social media. The courses in this programme, like How to Create Great Online Content, will show you how to turn your scrolling into skills. As social media has such a big presence in our lives, these courses are ideal if you want to use social channels in your career, or even just understand them better.

Develop new skills

Our partners also offer courses for people looking to develop more advanced digital skills, like network security and artificial intelligence. These can be taken as a one-off, or can lead to further study.

For those who want to get hands-on with digital, we have a number of courses that provide an insider look into how technology really works, like how it protects our computers and data. Cybersecurity has recently become one of the most invested in industries globally[i], so it’s a good idea to start developing those skills – you never know when you might need them!

Prepare for your career

If you are looking for an undergraduate or graduate degree programmes that will help you prepare for a career in the digital sector, the IoC has several online options available.
