Remote working is becoming more popular around the UK. In this blog, we outline how our free course on remote working, which was developed with the University of Leeds and FutureLearn, will help you boost your productivity and collaborate better with your team while working at home.

Today, work happens in different locations in less traditional ways and more of us are spending time working from home. If you’re not used to this way of working, it can be difficult to continue the productive rhythm you might usually have in the workplace. Some people may also find remote working to be isolating, without the in-person support of their team.

Our Collaborative Working in a Remote Team course has been developed by our partners to help you navigate some of these issues and develop an action plan for successful remote working. The course provides advice for people who have digital skills but would like to build confidence using digital technology in the workplace and teaches you how you can work effectively with your team, whether you’re at home or on the other side of the world. Covering topics like time management tools and strategies for effective collaboration, you’ll learn how to maximise you and your team’s productivity and ensure that everyone is supported in their work.

Thousands of learners have already begun their digital skills journey with our courses. Hannah Stubbs, an assistant at the University of Bath, found her experience with our remote working course to be helpful for both her working pattern and her wider career path:

“Before I took this course, I was nervous about working from home, as I’d never done it before and was afraid that I wouldn’t get the face time I needed with my team. I also enjoy working and communicating with my colleagues in real life! The course had some really useful tips about how I can continue to be productive and creative at home, which makes me much more comfortable with remote working in the future. Best of all, I discovered tools that help me stay in contact with my colleagues, so it doesn’t even feel like I’m not in my physical workplace!”
