It is widely recognised that there is a growing digital skills gap in UK and there are not enough technical specialists to fill current and future vacancies. The Institute of Coding (IoC) is a large national collaboration of industry, government, educators and outreach providers working together to respond to this issue.

The IoC, with our partner Deloitte, are currently undertaking a research project to better understand what motivates different groups of people to choose (or not choose) to train and work in digital. The results from this research will be used to inform the IoC’s ongoing work on increasing diversity and widening participation both in digital higher education and in the workplace.

We are conducting three surveys, each focused on a different audience: people in employment, 16-18 year olds, and university learners. In this phase of the research, we want to hear from university learners. If you are currently studying for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in any discipline (not just digital-related) and would like to participate in the research, please complete the survey here: https://surveyhub.deloitte.co.uk/wix/9/p1878382039.aspx

Alternately, if you work with university learners, please share the survey in your networks and encourage learners to complete it.

If you would like more details about the research project, please see the Participant Information Sheet.
