</Learning doesn’t just happen in term time>

At the Institute of Coding (IoC), we are committed to increasing digital skills and believe that education is a continuous process. That’s why our partners from all over the UK offered a range of courses and events for all levels throughout the summer. Read on for a round-up of some of the events our partners have run and information on what is coming up.

Northumbria University and QA Consulting continued their partnership with another instalment in their Teach the Nation to Code series, where beginners to experts can learn and refresh their Python skills. As part of London Tech Week, we were pleased to host a workshop on 10th June with Composure Media on the topic of building personal confidence. Subtle biases can impact everyone’s day to day working lives. Manchester Metropolitan University’s training in unconscious bias in late June aimed to help participants address those biases and eliminate their sources, creating a better working environment for everyone. The University of Exeter Summer School provided students with the opportunity to learn useful programming languages like Python and R, and get to grips with the basics of artificial intelligence through their three-week course on the fundamentals of computer programming and social data analytics. With 4 different universities, numerous industry partners and 100 women from BAME and underrepresented communities, TechUP Women was the first Future Projects Fund programme to launch this year. Manchester Metropolitan University ran their Consider a Digital Career event in mid-July to show that developing a tech career can be easier than you think. With a panel of successful tech industry workers who all studied various non-tech subjects, this event was a great way to discover a new career path.
