/Introduction to Data Science

For many businesses, Data Science is a relatively new concept and there are often misconceptions about the role of a data scientist and the methods they employ.

Data Science can help to make informed decisions, improve processes and direct strategy by turning data into actionable insights. This course will provide a hands-on experience with common Data Science tasks, using widely available tools such as Excel and open-source applications such as Orange. Advanced topics, such as AI and Clustering will also be discussed.

Ninety percent of the data in the world today has been created in the last two years alone, rendering traditional data processing applications inadequate and increasing the demand for sophisticated data analysts who can collate, interpret and draw value from complex data sets.

The course will introduce data science to businesses who are unfamiliar with the technology and tools that are available and demystify the terms that are commonly used. Example use-cases of how data analytics can be applied in common situations will be presented and worked-through with delegates.

This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn more about Data Science in business and the types of tools and algorithms appropriate for various problems. If you have ever faced questions such as “which advertising campaign really had the most impact?” or “based on previous data, how closely can we predict demand for X?”, then this is the course that will help you understand the appropriate methods for giving answers that can be trusted.
