/Institute of Coding – New Accreditation Standard workshop

The Institute of Coding (IoC) brings together a range of universities, industry, training providers and professional bodies to address the UK’s digital skills gaps. The Institute’s vision is to enhance the education and employability of every IoC learner, and ensure that employers and individuals across the UK can access the skills they need to compete in the global digital economy.

The IoC will develop and deliver innovative, industry-focused higher education across the UK. A particular aspect of this is a new accreditation standard for IoC university-level learning, which will focus on competence rather than knowledge. Based on the SFIA skills framework, the standard aims to deliver graduates who will be “billable” almost immediately, with a sound underpinning to enable them to develop further competences.

This workshop is an opportunity to contribute to the draft of the new standard, to evaluate it against the needs of industry, particularly SMEs, and to explore how it can be used to define detailed curricula.

Participants in the workshop will help to identify any substantive amendments required in draft standard, before it is developed further for implementation.

The workshop is open to participants from relevant industries and to IoC partners. Representatives from small and medium-sized companies in the IT sector will be particularly welcome.
