Athena is a two-day event aiming to champion, encourage and inspire women in tech. The event will include:
- An all-female hackathon for anyone aged 18+.
Teams of five must use their skills to create an idea that will help solve the plastic crisis that is currently plaguing the world in support of Plastic Oceans UK.
Teams will work to develop an app, digital demonstration or digital platform that showcases their novel ideas, before pitching their idea to a team of judges. Working with mentors from leading tech companies to fix a real work problem, teams with the best solutions will have the opportunity to pitch their idea to business investors at a later date.
- Coding workshops
Makers have joined with Athena as an event partner to provide a series of coding workshops to our attendees to allow women who have never experienced coding a chance to do so in a fun environment.
Makers are creating a new generation of tech talent who are skilled and ready for the changing world of work. They are inspired by the idea of discovering and unlocking potential in people for the benefit of 21st century business and society.
- Inspiring talks – a series of talks on a range of topics in tech with a focus on advice for anyone starting a career in the tech industry.
