/Click Start Peckham Digital Accelerator Zone Overview

The Click Start Peckham Digital Accelerator Zone (DAZ) is a collaboration with the UAL Creative Computing Institute (CCI), UKBlackTech, and the London Borough of Southwark. This programme is part of the nationwide Click Start training programme developed by the Institute of Coding (IoC) and funded by Nominet.


This hybrid programme last for 15 weeks and is split into three learning blocks, each lasting 5 weeks. You will learn a broad range of digital skills, such as Web DevelopmentData Science, and Artificial Intelligence. To help boost your employability skills there will also be mock interview workshops, networking events with industry professionals and sessions to help build your professional portfolio.


The DAZ aims to empower and educate the next generation of tech talent within the local borough of Southwark and across South London. This transformative programme will enable you to become a catalyst for change within your local community, and the versatile toolkit of skills you gain will help kickstart your digital career. This is the perfect course for you if you have an enthusiasm for tech but are struggling to break into a tech career.

Am I eligible?

Click Start is designed to support under-represented groups. The aim is to give you the digital skills you need to open-up new opportunities and get better pay. Or simply do what you want to do in life.


For a FREE place, check if ALL of the following criteria apply to you:

  • You are aged 18-30.
  • You live in the London borough of Southwark or South London.
  • You are from black or minority ethnic backgrounds.
  • You have the right to work in the UK.
  • You have an enthusiasm for tech.

Do I need any experience?

For this programme, all you need is an open mind and an enthusiasm for tech. You don’t need experience. You don’t need to have been to university. All you need is curiosity and to be ready to learn new things. Maybe you want a new direction? Maybe you want to upskill? Maybe you want a raise or promotion in your current role? Click Start gives you the head start you need.


What will I learn? 

The comprehensive hybrid programme encompasses a broad spectrum of critical skills, such as Web Development, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. Learning is split into three 5 week blocks:


Web Development: Advanced Creative Coding (5 Weeks)
Introduction to Data Science: Programming with Data (5 Weeks)
Natural Language Processing: NLP In Creative Industries (5 Weeks)


There will also be mock interview workshops, networking events and professional portfolio sessions for all learners.

How much is it?

If you meet the eligibility criteria, then it’s completely free. And no, there’s no catch. This programme has been developed in partnership with the Institute of Coding (IoC) and has been funded by Nominet to help reduce the UK’s digital skills gap.


Do I get a qualification?

The programme will be fully accredited through UAL CCI, providing each learner with 40 credits towards a Computing Diploma, with potential to add more credits through the UAL modular framework.

What is Click Start?

This programme is part of the nationwide Click Start training programme developed by the Institute of Coding – a national consortium of industry, educators and outreach providers and funded by Nominet – the public benefit company that operates and protects UK Internet infrastructure and uses its funds to support projects that promote digital inclusion.


The programme, which launched in 2023, helps to tackle the UK’s digital skills gap by offering skills and training to more than 26,500 learners across the country who may not have previously had opportunities.
